Dr. Fate, or Kent Nelson, is a smart archeologist and historian who is well-versed in ancient relics, magical lore, and mythology. Since he is a sorcerer, he also possesses an in-depth knowledge of esoteric energies and powers.
On the other hand, Dr. Strange is an accomplished surgeon and scientist who has extensive knowledge of human biology and anatomy. Having been schooled by the Ancient One and other mystic masters, he also holds a wealth of knowledge in the mystical arts.
It’s hard to say which of the two is smarter because they both have such a wide breadth of information. While his powers and talents are more directly tied to magic and mysticism, Dr. Fate would certainly come out on top in a comparison of intelligence based on the capacity to manipulate and understand magic.
There is a vast variety of magic at Dr. Fate’s and Dr. Strange’s disposal with which to combat evil, and their most potent spells will change based on the nature of the evil they must vanquish.
The “Tower of Fate” spell is perhaps Dr. Fate’s strongest, as it allows him to construct a magical stronghold that can survive practically any assault. Dr. Fate’s talents can be strengthened by the Tower of Fate, giving him a decisive advantage in battle.
The “Bolts of Balthakk” are among Dr. Strange’s most potent spells, unleashing massive energy blasts that can destroy virtually anything they touch. The “Images of Ikonn” give him the ability to project several doppelgangers of himself in order to throw off his foes’ sense of direction.
Powerful protection spells are another talent shared by Drs. Fate and Strange. While Dr. Strange can employ the “Shield of the Seraphim” to construct an impenetrable force field, Dr. Fate is capable of creating tremendous magical shields of his own.
The ultimate potency and success of each character’s spells is conditional on the nature of the circumstance, the nature of the enemy, and the nature of the battlefield.
As both Doctor Fate and Doctor Strange are formidable sorcerers, it’s also hard to predict who would emerge victorious in a battle between them.
Dr. Fate is an all-powerful sorcerer who can change reality and has superhuman strength, flying, and telekinesis thanks to the magical Helm of Fate. In addition, he possesses formidable magical expertise and can perform spells with ease.
Yet, Dr. Strange is no less a master of the mystical arts than the Ancient One himself. The Eye of Agamotto gives him the power to control time and see through deceptions. In addition, he has a deep mastery of a variety of mystical talents, including telekinesis, clairvoyance, and astral projection.
The outcome of a battle between these two powerful sorcerers would be determined by several circumstances, such as which powers are used by which character, how skilled each is in combat and the nature of the battlefield. One can never know for sure who would come out on top in the end.
